Hush Salon and Spa: Our Story

A Guelph Salon Built on Creativity, Community, and Connection

Hush Salon and Spa has been part of the Guelph hair community since 2003, when owner Jodie Gray set out to create a salon that felt different from the traditional beauty experience.

From the beginning, the vision for Hush was simple: create a space where people could feel comfortable, confident, and completely themselves. A salon where individuality is celebrated, relationships matter, and stylists are encouraged to grow creatively.

More than 20 years later, that same vision continues to shape everything we do.

The Beginning: 2003

Hush Salon and Spa was founded by Jodie Gray in 2003, built on a passion for hair, entrepreneurship, and community.

Like many small businesses, the early days were focused on building trust and connection with clients. Through word of mouth and loyal guests, the salon quickly became known in Guelph for its welcoming environment and personalized approach to hair services.

Clients weren’t just appointments on a schedule, they became part of the Hush community.

Growing Through the Years

As the salon grew, so did the team and the spaces that Hush called home.

Throughout the years, Hush operated in several locations in downtown Guelph, each one marking a new stage of growth. These moves allowed the salon to expand its team, welcome more clients, and continue evolving as the beauty industry changed.

Eventually, Hush found its long-term home on Woolwich Street, where Hush Salon and Spa continues to operate today.

This location brought together both hair and spa services, allowing clients to enjoy a full self-care experience in one welcoming space. The salon became known for offering a wide range of services, including:

• Custom hair colour

• Blonde services

• Creative haircutting

• Curly hair services

• Extensions

• Esthetic services

More importantly, it became known for its atmosphere; relaxed, welcoming, and supportive for both clients and stylists.

A Salon Built on People

One of the biggest parts of the Hush story is the team.

Over the years, Hush has grown into a collaborative group of stylists with different specialties, personalities, and creative strengths. The goal has always been to create a salon where both clients and stylists feel like they belong.

Every stylist brings something unique to the space, which allows Hush to serve a wide variety of hair types, styles, and client needs.

This philosophy has helped the salon build long-lasting relationships with clients across Guelph and the surrounding area.

The Next Chapter: Hush Salon South (2024)

After more than two decades of growth, Hush expanded again in 2024 with the opening of Hush Salon South.

Located in the south end of Guelph, this second location was designed to bring the Hush experience to a new neighbourhood while offering a fresh approach to salon services.

Hush Salon South focuses on more customized, consultation-based services rather than traditional à-la-carte booking. This allows stylists to tailor appointments to each client’s hair goals and lifestyle.

The space was also designed with accessibility and comfort in mind, featuring:

• Wheelchair accessible stations

• Private service options

• Convenient parking

• A welcoming, energetic atmosphere

Hush Salon South has quickly become a go-to destination for clients looking for services like blonde transformations, vivid colours, curly hair services, extensions, and colour corrections.

Looking Ahead

More than 20 years after opening its doors, Hush Salon and Spa continues to grow, but the heart of the salon hasn’t changed.

The focus is still on creating a space where:
